The final event also showcased some superfoods from Spain, Greece and Italy with a small exhibition of aromatic herbs (calendula, oregano, lavender, sage etc. etc.) and superfoods such as organic wheats from ancient grains, sea buckthorn, essential oils.

The event was closed by the presentation of some enterprises from different parts of Sicily and also from Navarra (Spain) and Greece.

In the case of Spain, the exhibition included a selection of aromatic plants in different formats produced and elaborated by Josenea.

This organisation organically grows on the Borda Blanca farm in Lumbier (Navarra), which has around 12 hectares of production destined to Medical and Aromatic Plants (MAP) and a dryer to transform them and proceed to their subsequent commercial processing and sale.

The high quality of its products allows the organisation to export all over the world offering different consumption alternatives adapted to homes, restaurants and specialized sales. It also provides an important social value. The company is a Social Insertion Center that works with people with problems of access to the labor market, providing an opportunity to develop and give dignity their lives.

During the break attendants had the possibility to taste and get to know mixtures of medicinal and aromatic herbs with different therapeutic uses.

Also visits of the Spanish colleagues to the Italian farmers had been made which helped a lot networking and the transfer of experience.

This visit to Sicilian farmers allowed sharing cultivation techniques, handling of different native varieties, as well as exchanging transformation processes and used machinery. The objective was to get up close and personal the cultivation model implemented in Sicily and to open up opportunities for farmers in Navarre in this sector.

Finally both groups showed the great opportunity to further deepen these exchanges of good practices and have a frame of reference to enhance the cultivation and marketing of MAP.
